Surfer, Actor Tamayo Perry Killed in Shark Attack Off Oahu

Surfer and actor Tamayo Perry, known for his appearances in films like "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," tragically died on Sunday, June 24th, after a shark attack while surfing near Goat Island, Oahu, Hawaii.

Perry, 49, was a beloved figure in the Hawaiian surfing community and a seasoned lifeguard. According to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, his body was found around 1:00 pm with multiple shark bites. Lifeguards brought him back to shore on a jet ski, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Acting Ocean Safety Chief Kurt Lager spoke about Perry's passing, highlighting his infectious personality and dedication to both surfing and lifeguarding. Perry's film career included roles beyond "Pirates of the Caribbean." He also appeared in the surfing movie "Blue Crush. " While not a central cast member, his work in these films alongside his surfing prowess helped solidify his reputation as a waterman deeply connected to the ocean.
